Trolltech removes Qtopia GPL sources
16 years ago, mid-June | Leave a Comment
“Please note: We have temporarily removed the Qtopia open source packages from our servers.
As part of our integration work with Nokia, we have discovered there are some copyright inconsistencies regarding third party components used in Qtopia that we need to tidy up. While we work to fix these, we have temporarily removed GPL versions of Qtopia from our servers. We wish to stress that we remain committed to keeping Qtopia available under the GPL, and we will make a GPL version of Qtopia available again within three weeks from today (estimated date is June 30, 2008).
If you have any questions, please contact us at info (at) trolltech.com .
Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this might cause.
The Trolltech Team”
Taken from the readme on their FTP site. Of course it’s still all in the OM git repo…. errm and my hard drive. 🙂
You can also get a copy from here: git://git.asheesh.org/qtopia_snapshot.git

New SDK for Qtopia and Neo 1973
16 years ago, mid-February | 3 Comments
Today Trolltech have released a new Qtopia SDK for the Neo 1973. The download is and ISO which apparently contains a VMWare virtual machine so everything you need to compile and generate your own flash images is included. You’ll also need to get a copy of the Qtopia source of course, but you can get it here so that’s not a problem.

Nokia + Trolltech = Nutopia?
16 years ago, at the end of January | Leave a Comment
Espoo, Finland and Oslo, Norway , 28 January – 2008 – Nokia and Trolltech ASA today announced that they have entered into an agreement that Nokia will make a public voluntary tender offer to acquire Trolltech (www.trolltech.com), a company headquartered in Oslo, Norway and publicly listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. Trolltech is a recognized software provider with world-class software development platforms and frameworks. In addition to the key software assets, its talented team will play an important role in accelerating the implementation of Nokia’s software strategy.
I always loved the simplicity of the phone interfaces on Nokia devices now it looks like some changes could be afoot. Hopefully Nokia and Trolltech will result in many more open devices – Hey I can dream.
