The Boo Joins Ickle Pickle
17 years ago, at the end of August | 3 Comments
For me 2008 has so far been one of the worst years ever. With the loss of Rikki earlier and now the loss of Rhubarb (aka The Boo, PooBah, Boobie). On Wednesday of last week Rhubarb stopped eating and started being sick. A trip to the vet for antibiotic and pain killing injections didn’t seem to be working. He couldn’t eat. Everything he ate or drank just came back out. It was scarily similar to Rikki’s passing and horrendous to watch. On Sunday he really went downhill hardly able to move, even lifting his head was too much. At 5:45pm he slipped away from us.
When Rikki died it was a little easier for us since all the doggie toys, food, treats and beds were for Rhubarb to use. Now that he’s gone there are so many things that remind me of him. When you live your life around your dogs making sure you close doors, filling up water bowls, making sure they go outside before bed and the walks it’s so very difficult, even after this one day, to face the emptiness of the house.
It was fairly clear after Rikki died that Rhubarb was unhappy. While she was alive he used to grumble at her and move away if she came close, but when she got sick he would snuggle up to her. We always knew he loved her really.

Last night I decided to take a look at Randy Pausch’s Time Management video and rather than ending up trying to gnaw off my own head I found it quite interesting. When you find out that this man is actually dying and has something like four months left it does bring things into better perspective.

Winterboard Rick Roll
17 years ago, mid-August | Leave a Comment
Winterboard is a rather good application for a jailbroken iPhone that allows you to theme your iPhone’s appearance. It’s touted as a replacement for Summerboard, which I’ve never used. As with any theming you will want to download some, well, themes.

Twitter == FAIL
17 years ago, at the end of July | Leave a Comment
I’ve finally had enough of Twitter. I have no idea why people put up with its failures, its continuing inability to do IM updates or its inability to cope with their traffic volumes. It’s just broken. I’m moving to identi.ca which seems to be a lot more robust and at least lets me use IM. The also have a twitter compatible API sorted out. A perfect replacement. Hope to see you there soon.
